The Reserve Bank of New Zealand: significant monetary policy surprises are relatively rare

On September 16, Jin10 News reported that the Reserve Bank of New Zealand has released a new 'Analytical Note' to assess the unexpected aspects of monetary policy and its impact on financial market tools. A significant unexpected monetary policy is defined as a situation where the market pricing of the official cash interest rate (OCR) differs from the announced interest rate by more than 5 basis points. The Reserve Bank of New Zealand stated that this situation is 'relatively rare'.
