The Ethereum Fusaka upgrade will go live in November, with Glamsterdam closely following.
The adoption of Ethereum has been booming, and developers working behind the scenes are brewing another major upgrade. The community-focused Fusaka upgrade will go live in November, with Glamsterdam closely following. From scalability to censorship resistance to improving the overall experience, this will be the second upgrade in this year's Decentralization Blockchain improvement timeline.
Ethereum Important Milestones
The core development team behind the second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization has planned to launch the Fusaka upgrade mainnet in early November, aimed at further improving the network and enhancing scalability.
The next Devnet (Devnet-3) is scheduled to launch in two days, and the upgrade plan for Glamsterdam following Fusaka will also be determined in the coming weeks.
To expedite the testing, an Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) was removed—7907, which suggested changing the size limit of smart contract code.
If everything goes according to plan, this upgrade will arrive six months after the release of Pectra, showcasing the rapid expansion and development of the network.
In comparison, Dencun went live in March 2024, enhancing the performance of Layer 2 (L2) solutions, while Pectra launched over a year later, bringing wallet improvements and increasing validator limits.
Before we look forward to seeing Fusaka go live, two public testnets will launch in September and October.
The Nixo member shared his concerns about the current release schedule of Fusaka, citing the tight timeline, and hopes to launch before Devconnect 2025 begins.
Devconnect is an event showcasing Ethereum applications, which will be held at the end of November in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where Fusaka is set to launch.

What are the expectations for market upgrades?
The upcoming Fusaka upgrade project later this year will incorporate a large number of proposals.
To focus only on a part of the list, the market can start from EIP-7594: PeerDAS - Peer Data Availability Sampling.
DAS is a method of extending data availability beyond the EIP-4844 level that does not require all nodes to download all data while still ensuring that all information is available.
In addition, EIP-7825: Transaction Gas Limit Cap, as the name suggests, aims to introduce a cap on the amount of Gas that can be used per transaction, while also serving as an improvement to the network's security.
Additionally, it is worth mentioning EIP-7934: RLP Execution Block Size Limit, which introduces a margin for the maximum RLP encoded block size and beacon block size, thereby reducing the likelihood of DoS attacks.
