Max Burwick Launches NYC Mayoral Bid, Forms Crypto Coalition
HomeNews* Max Burwick, founder of Burwick Law, has announced his campaign for Mayor of New York City.
The campaign’s ties to crypto have drawn attention due to Burwick’s involvement with a token called Dogshit2. According to Wirelyss, the token was created as an example in a lawsuit involving Pump.fun, one of the world’s largest memecoin (crypto token) platforms. Evidence connecting Burwick to the token included NFT purchases and event photos, though related social media posts are now deleted.
Meanwhile, Zohran Mamdani leads in recent polls and received the primary’s top spot. Mamdani’s campaign is focused on addressing wealth inequality. His proposals include free childcare, state-run grocery stores, rent freezes, and increased corporate and high-income taxes for those earning over $1 million annually.
Some Republican officials and a Super PAC have responded to Mamdani’s lead with opposition campaigns. A Times Square billboard, financed by a group supporting Bitcoin advocate Vivek Ramaswamy, calls for New Yorkers to “flee” Mamdani and move to Ohio, where Ramaswamy is running for governor. Former U.S. President Donald Trump has also criticized Mamdani’s proposals and has suggested he may reduce federal funding to New York City if Mamdani is elected.
Protos has contacted both Max Burwick and Wirelyss for comment, with updates to follow as responses are received.
