The US seized 145 sites and confiscated cryptocurrencies.
U.S. authorities have seized 145 domains and cryptocurrencies linked to BidenCash, a darknet site that sells stolen credit cards and personal data. To date, the platform has sold more than 15 million stolen card data and generated approximately $17 million in revenue.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, BidenCash began operations in March 2022 and served more than 117,000 users over the course of two years. The platform facilitated the sale of sensitive data such as credit card details, login credentials, and access to compromised servers.
Platform administrators charged a fee per transaction while facilitating users to purchase stolen data. Additionally, to regain user trust after disruptions such as DDoS attacks, they advertised by releasing millions of card data for free. In this context, a total of 3.3 million card data was publicly shared on the platform between October 2022 and February 2023.
The 145 seized domains are now being redirected to servers under the control of law enforcement. The U.S. government has also announced that it has received legal authority to seize cryptocurrencies linked to BidenCash.
