The US Consumer Protection Agency has filed lawsuits against the Trump Meme coin with the US Department of Justice and OGE.
ChainCatcher news, according to The Block, the US consumer watchdog Public Citizen filed a complaint on Wednesday with the Department of Justice and the Office of Government Ethics (OGE), urging them to investigate whether Trump's launch of the Meme coin TRUMP violated federal laws prohibiting the president from soliciting gifts in office. Public Citizen emphasizes that due to the nature of cryptocurrency trading, it is difficult to know whether foreign actors are also 'giving the president by buying Trump MEME', and urges the Department of Justice and OGE to investigate this issue.
